Dear Recyclers,

 

Market News Is Very Quiet

Core domestic market action materialized in mid-May with the unexpected news that mills were

going to remain in operation through the Memorial Day weekend. This set the market on fire as

recycling facilities in the Midwest, East, Great Lakes, Northeast and portions of the West were

contacted to secure available tons. Mills are publishing prices under our postings but are often

running two lists with the second list being more in line with The Brown Sheet and circumstantially

using the one that best benefits them.

 

Newspaper manufacturers are making layoffs and there are still significant

amounts of finished goods inventory. The market will continue to slide into the

third quarter of 2009 but will benefit the newsprint organizations that are still

operating.

 

The black liquor tax credit loophole will likely expire early as the public insists

that Washington diminish funding of outlandish programs. Around October, the .... Subscribe
